Artist Statement
I use art to explore my inner world and acknowledge the one that surrounds me. The techniques taught to me by my mentors are foundational to my work. Over the past 30 years, I have discovered and developed techniques of my own. I employ both my teachings and discoveries in the pieces I create today.

About The Artist
Lino Martinez
(Mexico, b. 1961)
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Angelino has explored art since a young age. From 1980-1985 he attended Escuela Superior De Dibujo Artístico y Publicitario or ESDAP, where he studied before becoming an apprentice to Mario Orozco Rivera. Moving to Los Angeles, CA in 1990, he began working at Self Help Graphics which is where he first encountered printmaking and lithography. While mastering his skills, he has also worked at El Nopal Press and Cirrus Gallery mixing color and running prints for renown artists such as Jonas Wood, John Baldessari and Yu Youhan to name a few.
Angelino’s personal work is influenced by his time studying with Mario, the lands he comes from, and this country which is now called home as well as the lands he comes from. Playing with image destabilization, color, form and figure, and geometry, he is forever exploring the boundaries of application and the materials he uses.
Angelino’s career as an artist and print maker spans more than three decades.
He currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
